Michael Kors and Love Shack Fancy were among those who graced their runways with lace, but their pieces offered a modernized take on the traditional textile. For example, Kors balanced his light, romantic fabrication with heavier details, like metal hardware or leather belts and bags. Make this trend work for fall by pairing your lace pieces with an oversized blazer, leather boots, and thick gold hoops.

Brandon Maxwell, Khaite, and Dion Lee all made a splash with pops of vibrant red on their runways. This hue is a great alternative for those who shy away from the traditional pastels and florals in spring, but it’s also a glamorous shade to try any season—including this fall! Take a cue from Maxwell and look for orange-y reds in lightweight, flowy materials. Then keep the rest or your accessories super minimal. Or toughen it up with leather, the way it was styled for Khaite and Lee.

If you’ve never heard of the Mermaidcore trend that’s been floating around this year, just look to the NYFW runways of Proenza Schouler and Carolina Herrera for a perfect example. The glamorous “wet” look is achieved with sequins, paillettes, and other shiny textiles in soothing colors like blush, lavender, ivory, and turquoise, but if head-to-toe shimmer feels like a bit too much for you, try pairing a sequin pencil skirt with your favorite white tee or button down to make it more casual. Or dress it up by wearing a sparkling tank with your sleekest suit.

Metallics are always an easy way to instantly feel powerful and glamorous (just think about Beyoncé’s Renaissance looks for a few recent examples). And now upcoming collections by Prabal Gurung and Ralph Lauren prove that gold and silver jackets, pants, dresses, shoes, and bags are only going to become an even bigger fashion statement in seasons to come. Start small by swapping out your usual black or brown bag with a metallic clutch at night, or dress up your LBD or jeans with a pair of gold heels. Ready to go bigger? A gold sequin mini dress will make sure you’re a standout. 

The beautiful thing about the balletcore trend is that is can be done a few different ways. As seen in Christian Siriano’s latest show, you can go the glamorous route and embrace all the ribbons, pastel satin, and other details you might see in a traditional ballet performance. Or, you can think about the basics of ballet practice, like leotards, slips, and flat slippers (Altuzarra had some great examples of this) as a way to wear it more casually. This fall, try out the look with a pale pink sweater and add a ribbon to your sleek topknot or ponytail. For more glamour, look for silhouettes with a fitted bodice and flowy bottom.
